MOVE QM87 receives a new chipset and new CPU
There’s something happening among our Vehicle-PCs. Our MOVE QM87 is replaced by the MOVE Q170. This PC is equipped with an Intel® Core i5 6300U processor with a performance of 2 x 1.7 GHz (max. 2x 2.4 GHz). The MOVE still has a wide range power input from 9V to 36V, so that it can be used in vehicles. Also the interfaces don’t change: Video outputs for three independent displays (VGA, DisplayPort and DVI), in total 4 COM ports and 4 USBs (2x 2.0 and 2x 3.0), as well as 2 LAN ports and 2 SIM card slots. Expansions such as a CAN bus module, GPS module or 4G module are also optionally available.

Windows 11 is available from October on (and for more CPUs)
What only was a speculation, has now been confirmed by Microsoft: On October 5th 2021 Windows 11 is going to be given out – starting as a free update for upgradable devices (Source: heise). Older systems should follow bit by bit. Which new features Windows 11 has can be read in our last What’s New article.
The much critizied list of CPUs that support Windows 11 was – although only a bit – enlarged by Microsoft. Due to the high hardware requirements (4GB RAM, 64GB memory space, UEFI Secure Boot, TPM 2.0 and special graphics requirements) that list included:
- 8th generation Intel processors,
- AMD Zen 2-CPUs and
- Qualcomm ARM-CPUs (Series 7 and 8).
This short list was now increased by the following processors:
- Intels Quad Core CPUs (Series Core X and Xeon W)
- Intels Notebook processor Core i7-7820HQ
For 6th generation Intel CPUs, AMD Zen 1 CPUs and also older Qualcomm processors it doesn’t look very good. Microsoft indeed doesn’t want to actively block installations on these systems, but causes confusion whether the Windows version will be supported with updates on non-compatible devices (Source: heise). What’s sure is that it stays exciting with Windows 11. We are following what is going on and will keep you updated on our blog.
