As the successor of the industrial Mini-PC NOVA CUBE Q87, the NOVA Q170 again proves its versatility. The Mini-PC, which grows out of the cooperation with MSI IPC, is standardly equipped with an Intel® Pentium® G4400. At will the CPU can be changed to a sixth generation Intel® Core i5 CPU or an i7 of the seventh generation. Depending on the chosen CPU the power ranges from 3.3 GHz with the G4400 up to 3.9 GHz with the i7-7700T. The NOVA Q170 is, just like its predecessor, passively cooled and provides, next to a range of interfaces, a PCI, a PCI express and a Mini-PCI express slot. Also digital signage interested people come at their expense when combining the industrial PC with an extremely performant graphics card, such as the Nvidia Quadro P2000. [description] =>

Industrial PC for Digital Signage with Nvidia graphics card

For everyone that needs a high graphics power but also don’t want to miss the advantages of a fanless Mini-PC, the NOVA Q170 is definitely the right choice. Thanks to the integrated PCI express slot the industrial PC can be expanded by an Nvidia Quadro P2000. This is just one of the reasons how we created completely new application possibilities with the NOVA Q170.

With its DVI port and the two DisplayPort interfaces three displays can be controlled with different content at the same time (see also “VGA; DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI – what’s the difference between these multimedia interfaces?”). Using the two DisplayPorts a maximum resolution of twice 4K – i.e. 3840 x 2160 @60Hz – is possible. With an optional dedicated graphics card even more displays can be controlled. Choosing the Nvidia Quadro P2000 as graphics card would enable six times 4K in total.

NOVA Q170 as a server PC

With its dimensions of 143 x 226 x 217 mm the latest member of the NOVA series can no longer be called a cube. This is due to the lower amount of slots as on the NOVA CUBE Q87. The NOVA Q170 is therefore a bit slimmer than its predecessor. Nevertheless the spo-book provides enough space for providing a x16 PCI express extension card. Due to such a card graphics cards or even network cards can be connected. Up to two 2,5” hard disks, no matter if it is an HDD or SSD (see also “What is the difference between HDD or SSD?”), can be installed into the industrial PC and be connected to a RAID if more security is needed. The CPU is also supported by a 32 GB high RAM.

Internal USB port with security key

The NOVA Q170 provides a lot of different interfaces. Next to the video outputs DisplayPort and DVI, there are also two LAN and five COM ports available. The front of the industrial PC offers six USB 3.0 ports and the back two USB 2.0 ports. The third USB 2.0 port is placed on the inside of the Mini-PC and has an integrated security key with which, for instance, internal backups can be created.

Technical facts:

  • CPU: Intel® Pentium® G4400, optionally Intel® Core i5-6400T or Intel® Core i7
  • GPU: Optionally Nvidia Quadro P2000 with 5GB memory
  • Dimensions (W x H x D): 143 x 226 x 217 mm
  • 8x USB 3.0, 1 of them internal with security key
  • 5 x COM RS-232/422/485, 1 x DIO
  • SATA: 2.5‘‘ SATA II HDD or SSD (with RAID 1)

The namesake graphics card and the Intel® Core i5-7300U CPU with 2.6 and up to 3.5 GHz make the Mini-PC a perfect partner for digital signage applications. [description] =>

Nvidia Quadro P1000 with MOSAIC support

As the name suggests, the Nvidia Quadro P1000 graphics card with a 4 GB DDR5 memory builds the centerpiece of the Mini-PC. The main feature of this card is the MOSAIC support: using the four HDMI ports up to four displays can be combined to one single desktop. The highlight is: even if one cabled is pulled off the apposition of the screens stays the same.

Nvidias Nview and CUDA support

Another very interesting feature is the function Nview. With this tool, which is by the way standard with every Nvidia Geforce graphics card, desktops can be created more efficiently. Nview is made for everyone that works with a lot of different windows or a huge amount of information at the same time. On one hand the work can be spreaded on many monitors, so that the open windows are not sticked to just one display. On the other hand Nview also has a solution for the use of one display: virtual desktops can be created and toggled between by keystroke.

Furthermore the QUADRO P1000 provides a CUDA platform. Thanks to 640 cores in total, which are based on the Pascal GPU, many different visualization programs, for instance CAD, are easier to realize.

Connector diversity by 3x USB and 4x HDMI

The latest model QUADRO P1000 is equipped with a high amount of different interfaces. On the front panel of the Mini-PC the power button and two control lights for the HDD/SSD and the WiFi can be found (see also “What is the difference between HDD and SSD?” and “What is LAN?”). One of the four USB 3.0 ports, two audio connectors and an SD card reader are also located on the front.

Next to two Gigabit LAN ports the back panel provides four HDMI ports that enable the multi monitor use. With these interfaces four displays with a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160 @60Hz (4K) can be controlled at once (see also “What is the difference between 4K and 8K?”). Combining the multi monitor ability with the new feature Nview, the QUADRO P1000 becomes the perfect workstation solution. In addition to this, the back of the Mini-PC also holds a COM port, two Antenna ports and an SPDIF, which involves benefits mostly for the stereo field (see also “What is SPDIF?”).

Energy saving Intel® CPU and customizable configuration

The actively cooled spo-book QUADRO P1000 is equipped with an Intel® Core i5-7300U CPU, that has a performance of 2.6 GHz up to 3.5 GHz. The “U” in the CPUs name stands for “Ultralow” and an energy saving 15 W processor (read more about TDP here). The Mini-PC can be stocked with up to 32 GB DDRIV Ram and either an HDD or an SSD. It can also be chosen between the different Windows 10 versions Home, Professional and IoT. Due to the integrated M.2 slot it is also possible to equip the system with WiFi and Bluetooth.

Technical details:

  • CPU: Intel® Core i5-7300U, 2.6 GHz up to 3.5 GHz and 15W TDP
  • GPU: Nvidia Quadro P1000 with 4GB DDR5 memory
  • Dimensions (W x H x D): 210 x 44.4 x 176.6 mm
  • Max. resolution: 3840 x 2160 @60Hz (4K)
