BOX J6412 - Ultra compact PC for industry and digital signage

For some, this product name may sound suspiciously familiar. No wonder, because the BOX J6412 is the successor to the J4125 model. The new addition comes with a more powerful yet energy-saving CPU, Windows 11 support and the usual small dimensions. Perfect for industry and also in the digital signage sector.

Power-saving industrial PC with 10 watt TDP

The BOX J6412 is equipped with a powerful Intel® Celeron® J6412 processor with up to 2.6 GHz on 4 cores. With the support of up to 32GB RAM and an NVMe SSD of up to 2TB, even demanding applications can be mastered. Despite the high performance, the Mini-PC is extremely energy-efficient and has a TDP of just 10 Watts. Thanks to the fanless housing and a temperature range of 0°C to +50°C, the system can also be used where it gets dusty, damp or hot, such as in production halls or in the industry in general.

4K Digital Signage player

The Intel® Celeron® CPU comes with an integrated Intel® UHD graphics unit, which also enables applications in the field of digital signage. The two HDMI 2.0 ports on the back of the case ensure that content can be played on up to two screens at the same time. Of course in a resolution of 4096x2160 @ 60Hz (4K).

Small housing, large variety of connections

The main criterion for being called “BOX” is to come with very small dimensions. The BOX J6412 of course, fulfills this with dimensions of only 118 x 109 x 44 mm (W x D x H) - which corresponds to a volume of just 0.9 liters. But the case still has enough space for the most important interfaces. The power button, the audio connection (line out), the COM RS232 and two of the four USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 ports are located on the front. The other two USB 3.2, two Gigabit LAN ports and the two HDMI 2.0 are on the back panel.

Optional operating system and WiFi

In contrast to its predecessor, the BOX J6412 is compatible with Windows 11. Windows 10 IoT and Linux Ubuntu version 22.04.2 can also be installed. There is also the option to expand the system with WiFi. For this purpose the housing has 2 antenna connections. A wall bracket is already included.

What does TDP stand for?

TDP? What exactly that is, even today in many forums and blog comments is discussed. But let’s start from scratch: TDP is given as the power value of computer processors. The abbreviation TDP stands for Thermal Design Power and indicates the thermal power loss (in watts) of computer processors. Since a processor converts the absorbed electrical energy almost one-to-one into heat, the thermal power loss is a very important indicator of how much cooling and power is required.
